LOS ANGELES — Bob Barker is heading toward his last showcase, his final “Come on down.” The silver-haired daytime-TV icon is retiring in June, he told The Associated Press Tuesday.

“I will be 83 years old on December 12,” he said, “and I’ve decided to retire while I’m still young.”

He’ll hang up his microphone after 35 years as the host of “The Price Is Right” and 50 years overall in television.

XM Radio - Never Again.

Posted on 28 October 2006 by Mat

xm-792322.jpg

I’m going to take this time to point out that if you have XM Radio, you may never be able to stop having XM Radio. I’ve been trying for the past 6 months or so to cancel my service, and all I ever get is bounced around from non-english speaking operator to non-english speaking operator. I called them several months ago to terminate my service, simply because I don’t listen to it anymore. They offered me three months of free service and assured me it would be canceled after the three months. Sure. Fine. I’ll take it, whatever. Three months go by, and on Sept. 29th I’m charged again. WTF! So I call yesterday, after getting disconnected by the automated menu three times, I finally get a person. Someone clearly not in this hemisphere. I explain the situation and demand a refund for the Sept. 29th charge. The person says Ok, and transfers me to some other foreigner. I explain AGAIN the situation and she gives me the refund and assures me my service is now canceled.

So today I wake up, check my online bank statement, lo and behold, whats sitting there at the top of my activity? Anohter charge from XM RADIO! FUCK THESE FUCKERS IN THE FUCKHOLE! Back to calling them up, and bitching them out. Again, I have to go through several disconnects, and people who don’t speak english. The worst part about the non-english motherfuckers is I dont’ think they understand whats going on when I’m cursing them out. After about a half hour of repeating that I want TWO refunds back, and no more service, I THINK “Karen” finally got it right. We’ll see. I’m sure there will be a new charge on my account tomorrow.

If ever I get satellite radio again, I promise you it’ll be Sirius. Fuck XM.

Stephen Hawking Heading for Divorce.

Posted on 22 October 2006 by Mat

Stephen Hawking.jpg

WORLD famous scientist Professor Stephen Hawking and his wife are divorcing, The Sun can reveal.Solicitors for the couple, who have been married for 11 years, have lodged divorce papers at Cambridge County Court.

Prof Hawking, 64 — famous for his Black Hole theory — and second wife Elaine, 55 — refused to discuss their split.

They have been dogged by rumours that she was abusive to him.

Last night a source close to the couple said: “Stephen and Elaine’s relationship is over. There is also talk that he has fallen for another woman.

“It’s an incredibly sad state of affairs. Nobody knows why they are splitting up — it’s a complete mystery. But there is a possibility another woman is involved.”

But one of Prof Hawking’s old carers claimed new nurses were subjected to a strange “initiation” by Elaine.

This involved being called to the bedroom to find him and his naked wife having sex. The carer said: “It was to make it clear that they had a sexual relationship.”

The Jim Henson Company now confirms what millions of internet fans have speculated: the Company is in development on a full-length feature about the Fraggles, stars of the 1980’s television show “Fraggle Rock.” The announcement was made today by Lisa Henson who serves as co-CEO of The Jim Henson Company with her brother Brian Henson.

The untitled film will for the first time take Gobo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red on an adventure outside of Fraggle Rock where they will interact with the strange beings in “outer space” (also known as humans). The treatment is being written by author Ahmet Zappa (The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless) who will also executive produce the project with Brian Henson and Jason Lust. OJ Simpson Gets Hypothetical

Posted on 19 October 2006 by Mat

OJ.JPG

O.J. Simpson is confessing. Hypothetically, that is.

The former football great, who was acquitted in criminal court 11 years ago of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, reportedly has been paid a whopping $3.5 million to write about the double murder that shocked and riveted the nation in 1994, according to a detailed report in the new National Enquirer.

But Simpson is not actually confessing to the murder — rather, he’s writing a “hypothetical” book — which the Enquirer reports is tentatively being called “If I Did It.”

The early part of the book tells how Simpson fell in love with Nicole and how the marriage collapsed, reports the tab. He goes on, according to the article, to describe in gruesome detail the killing of his ex-wife and Goldman; he stipulates that the murder scenes are “hypothetical.” But, notes the tab, the descriptions are “so detailed and so chillingly realistic” that readers are left with little doubt as to what really happened.

Are You Indigo?

Posted on 16 October 2006 by Mat

Indigo Children is a term used within the New Age movement to refer to children who are believed to possess certain special psychological and spiritual attributes. The Indigo Child concept was first publicized by the book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife team of Lee Carroll and Jan Tober. Carroll insists that the concept was obtained via conversations with a spiritual entity known as Kryon.

The reason for the use of the adjective “indigo” is not universally agreed upon. Some sources link it with an early researcher into the phenomenon, who was synesthetic. It has also been claimed that these children appear with an indigo-hued aura.

* They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
* They have a feeling of “deserving to be here,” and are surprised when others do not share that.
* Self-worth is not a big issue; they often tell the parents “who they are.”
* They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
* They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
* They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and do not require creative thought.
* They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like “system busters” (non-conforming to any system).
* They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
* They will not respond to “guilt” discipline (”Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did”).
* They are not shy in letting it be known what they need.

Sienna Miller Pisses Yunz Off

Posted on 08 October 2006 by Mat

So, Sienna Miller doesn’t like it here in Pittsburgh? In town for the filming of “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh,” the actress — who claims she has led a relatively sheltered life (aside from dating Jude Law) — tells Rolling Stone magazine in an article that will hit newsstands today that she’s stuck not in “Blitzburgh,” but rather in some place that sounds an awful lot like that, starting with an “S.”

At the Omni William Penn hotel, Downtown, she told a magazine reporter at the bar, “Can you believe this is my life? Will you pity me when you’re back in your funky New York apartment and I’m still in Pittsburgh? I need to get more glamorous films.”

Cure for Hiccups

Posted on 06 October 2006 by Mat

A 60-year-old man with acute pancreatitis developed persistent hiccups after insertion of a nasogastric tube. Removal of the latter did not terminate the hiccups which had also been treated with different drugs, and several manoeuvres were attempted, but with no success. Digital rectal massage was then performed resulting in abrupt cessation of the hiccups. Recurrence of the hiccups occurred several hours later, and again, they were terminated immediately with digital rectal massage. No other recurrences were observed. This is the second reported case associating cessation of intractable hiccups with digital rectal massage. We suggest that this manoeuvre should be considered in cases of intractable hiccups before proceeding with pharmacological agents.
