Schaivo, Hedberg Dies

Posted on 31 March 2005 by Mat

The woman who became famous for doing even less than I, has finally released us all from the incessant barrage of annoying news, today.

Hope you caught that Celebrity Blog entry, two below this one.

PINELLAS PARK, Florida (CNN) — Terri Schiavo, the brain-damaged woman at the center of a family battle fought on a national stage, died Thursday morning, nearly two weeks after doctors removed her life-sustaining feeding tube.

CNN

In other Celebrity Deaths, BenC is claiming comedian Mitch Hedberg has died. He has no sources and I cannot find anything to back this up. I hope Ben’s wrong about this, cuz Mitch is a fuckin’ hilarious guy.

UPDATE: Well it appears our fears are true. Mitch Hedberg has passed.

Tragically, Mitch Hedberg passed away this week. Mitch was a beloved member of the Comedy Central family, and we join fans in our sadness. He will be missed.

Johnnie Cochran: Dead

Posted on 29 March 2005 by Mat

LOS ANGELES (CNN) — Famed attorney Johnnie Cochran, 67, perhaps best known for his defense of O.J. Simpson, died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles.

“Johnnie Cochran was a loving, heartful human being who cared about everybody,” said Pastor William Epps of the Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles, which Cochran attended for 18 years.

Cochran had been in a hospice suffering from a neurological problem, Epps said.

CNN

I’m sure he’s got a nice warm seat waiting for him in hell somewhere. Poor bastard.
I met Johnny Cochran once, when I saw him speak at Kent State Univ. Interesting fellow.

Christ. I’ve lost my mind, I think. I started messing with Second Life on Monday. I just looked up at the time and realized its 5 days later. Life consuming. Love it!

Anyhow..sorry about the lack of posts.

Here’s pretty cool link Tony FTB sent me.

Sarah Lane Reviews Sin City

Posted on 21 March 2005 by Mat

I don’t know how much my tastes and Sarah Lane’s tastes match up, but I know she’s a big fan of HST, and thats good enough for me. That said, here’s Sarah’s review of Sin City. I hope it really is this good.

My, my. Where do I begin?

I’ve had unreasonably high hopes for “Sin City” ever since I watched that fabulous trailer. But it’s not like graphic novels-turned-movies have impeccable track records on the big screen, so imagine my concern going into this.

For lack of a more eloquent explanation, “Sin City” freaking rules.

Remember the first time you saw “Pulp Fiction”? You were unnerved and at times downright repelled, but you admitted that it was the freshest, most original thing to be put into a theater since… ever, and you couldn’t wait to talk about how amazing it was with everyone you knew? “Sin City” is kind of like that.

I’ll write more later. Until then, get excited.

Door From Hell Liquor Cabinet

Posted on 17 March 2005 by Mat

Mark your calendars - the DFH Liquor Cabinet is on the road this week, and doing a show on St. Patrick’s Day - thats TONIGHT - from Denver, CO. Joining Mat again will be Matt “The Duke” Fuller and BJ “The Knighthawk” Yuhnke.

There will be no show Saturday, so tune in TONIGHT at 7pm central.
The show will probably only go til about 10 or 11p central, so tune in early for the drunken festivities, and hopefully more Bill Cosby impressions!

One side note: there’s a distinct possibility that we’ll be too drunk to do a show, so keep an eye on this blog for an audio post letting you know if there’s some chance the show is off.
