My Gmail Swap

Posted on 29 June 2004 by Mat

So I traded a gmail account for some plans to an underground bunker. I figured it was better than nothing. Here’s what we have (click for larger images):

Lets take a closer look:

First of all, let it be noted:

Ok, here we go:
STAGE 1

Clearly, what we have here is a guy beginning to drill a hole. Makes sense.

STAGE 2

Here we see, what is apparently, some type of explosive being dropped down the newly drilled hole. I guess this is how you make a bigger hole at the bottom of the long narrow one. Ok, I’m following.

STAGE 3

Here we can see some workers are sent down the drilled hole to secure the big hole at the bottom. Apparently there is one guy who seems to have a head that gives off light.

STAGE 4

Apparently its a good idea to build your bunker around the holidays so you can hang up Christmas lights in it.

STAGE 5

Here you can see its always a good idea to make a smaller level under your huge room, so when the big one collapses you can always run to the second one. And be sure to make lots of shelves.

STAGE 6

AND we’re all done! (so it says)

but wait!
STAGE 7

Be sure you have some peons with you, because you need to send them for take-out before the end of the world!

STAGE 8

Oops. Too late.

Good Idea, Bad Company.

Instant Live. A service soon to be available at many concerts near you.

“Instant Live records concerts and burns them to CD right at the show, so concert-goers are able to literally take the show home with them. Instant gratification.

Launched in February of 2003 in Boston, Instant Live will be expanding to cities across the country by year’s end. An added feature will give fans the ability to pre-order Instant Live CDs when purchasing concert tickets. If you’re the spontaneous type, Instant Live recordings will always be available for purchase right at the show.”

Sounds great. Too bad Clear Channel is behind it. Damn them.

KLKN-TV Lincoln Reports:

“HOUSTON, May 29 /PRNewswire/ — The following statement was issued today by Brian Becker, CEO of Clear Channel Entertainment:
We have invested substantial resources, time and effort over the past two years — including learning of and purchasing a fundamental patent — to realize our breakthrough Instant Live service. During that time, we have also conducted extensive beta testing to be sure that the quality of the service is outstanding.”

Bands currently signed on for Instant Live include Jewel and KISS (go figure, KISS.)

Pro-Bush Video?

Posted on 26 June 2004 by Mat

So i happened over to the Bush/Cheney reelection site, and noticed a hell of a lot of photos of Kerry, and well..none of Bush or Cheney. Anyhow, head over there and check out their new web video. I had to watch it twice to figure out what the hell they were trying to say, because all i got out of it was a bunch of good points made by anti-bush people. Then in the end they make a small, weak point that Democrats are pessimists, because they put down Bush, and you should vote for W. because he’s “optimistic”. If you ask me, this video seems be working against the man. “Who are the ad wizards that came up with this one!?”

Michael Moore vs The News

Posted on 25 June 2004 by Mat

I was just over at the Diznang blog where Tony has a link to an MSN article. The writer of this article is chewing up Michael Moore for being dishonest and twisting the truth to suit his agenda.

I think its funny that all these “news journalists” who skew stories every day, and pass it off as Truth, are out there now, calling a Hollywood motion picture untrue. I mean, its a film. its not the news. People don’t go to the movies for solid information. People rely on journalists to report unbiased, fair stories, yet anyone who’s watched FOX news or MSNBC, knows damn well that what we are supposed to believe is raw, untouched news, is not that at all, in fact, sometimes its pure fiction, as in the case of Jayson Blair, who fabricaterd entire stories for the New York Times.

I know first hand that there is no such thing as unbiased news. Its all skewed by the people who are in charge of the organization. I worked for a newspaper in Pittsburgh, that was owned by an extremely conservative madman. (this guy contributed loads of cash to Paula Jones’ lawyers during the whole Clinton sex scandel, and even tried to buy the Washington Post the night before they broke the Watergate Scandal, because he was such a huge Nixon supporter) On the eve of the 2000 presidential election, he insisted that if Al Gore won, Gore’s photo was not to appear above the fold on the front page the following day. Anyone who thinks the news industry is pure had better open their eyes and look a litte harder.

Granted, Moore’s film is supposed to be a documentary, and contain truthful information. I believe it does. I believe everything in it is true, but I also believe he presents it in a way that fits his own view. Personally, I like to see Bush portrayed as an evil, idiotic madman, because I think he IS an evil, idotic madman, so I enjoy Moore’s persepective. But for so called ‘journalists” to point fingers at Moore, is hypocritical, for he’s doing exactly the same thing every news outlet in America does today. Joe Newsguy at Anywhere News needs to stop pointing fingers at Moore, and realize they’re all in the same business.

Church and Church-state

Posted on 24 June 2004 by Mat

Recently these pamphlets were handed out to our troops in iraq. Its a .pdf file, and if you can’t read it, here’s what it is. Its a prayer pamphlet. Not so bad maybe. But does it say “hey guys, your president is praying for you?” No. Its a request for the TROOPS to pray for the PRESIDENT. I has a prayer for each day of the week for these guys to say for our man in the White House. (when he’s actually IN the White House)
Not only is it just some print, but it has a tear off tab, and address, so they can fill out the tab which states:

“Dear President Bush,
I would like you to know that I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff, and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God’s peace be your guide.”

Then it has a buncha lines to sign your name, and you can send it right in to the pres.

If you ask me, this is the ultimate insult to the troops. Seems like W. aught to be sending THEM cards saying “Sorry I put you in harms way for my own rotton greed.”

Here’s a sample of a daily prayer on the pamphlet:

SUNDAY:
PRAY that the President and his advisors be strong and courageous to do what is right, regardless of critics.

I’m sure these guys have nothing better to do than sit around praying for that schmuck who’s had more vacation days than any other president in history.

If they do in fact do any praying, I hope its something like this:

Dear Lord, Please let President Bush wake up one day and realize what a disaster he’s made of our country. Please let President Bush choke on another pretzel, but this time, let the pretzel win. Amen.
